Getting Ready for Tax Season: Your 2025 Checklist

Tax season does not have to feel overwhelming. With the right preparation, the process moves smoothly — and the sooner you gather your documents, the sooner we can get to work on your behalf.

Over the coming weeks, you will receive income slips, investment statements, and other tax documents from employers, financial institutions, and the Canada Revenue Agency. Knowing what to look for — and what applies to your situation — makes all the difference.

That is why we have put together tailored checklists based on how you earn your income. Whether you are an employee, run your own business, or operate through a corporation, your checklist is ready to download below.

Once You Have Everything Together

When you have gathered all of the documents on your checklist, upload them directly through our client portal and let us know your package is complete. We begin preparing your return once we have your full set of documents – so that confirmation from you is what gets the process started.

If you are waiting on a slip that has not arrived yet, let us know. We can advise on timing and flag anything that could affect your filing if it comes in late.

A few things worth keeping in mind as you gather documents:

Claims related to vehicles, home offices, and asset purchases are subject to increased CRA review. Complete records on these items help us support your filing and reduce the risk of reassessment.

If you are unsure whether a document is relevant to your return, include it anyway. It is always easier for us to set something aside than to go back looking for it later.

Questions? We Are Here.

Tax season is one of the most important times of year for your finances, and we take that seriously. If anything on your checklist raises questions, or if your situation has changed since last year, reach out before you begin. A quick conversation now can save time — and surprises — later.
